ilney, part of leading wealth management and professional services group Tilney Smith & Williamson, has established a new dedicated investment management team in its Newcastle office.

As part of the move, managing partner David Smith and his team have been joined in the firm’s office at Quayside House by investment manager Matthew Burgess, who previously worked at Tilney’s Liverpool office. He is a chartered wealth manager who manages a wide range of client investment mandates including charities, business owners and private client portfolios.

Burgess said he was “delighted” with his new role.

“David and his team of financial planners have steered the office through considerable growth in the North East in recent years and I am excited to bring the experience I have gained working for Tilney in Liverpool to clients in this region,” he commented.

In addition, Angus Wilson has joined Tilney from Brewin Dolphin as Assistant Investment Manager. He is currently working towards his Masters in Wealth Management and is an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investment.

David Smith, Managing Partner of Tilney’s Newcastle office commented: “The addition of a dedicated investment management team in Newcastle demonstrates Tilney’s commitment to continued growth in the North East. Investment management is the engine that drives financial planning and I look forward to working closely with Matthew and Angus as we introduce the team to new and existing clients. We have long believed in a dual expert approach of combining financial planning and investment management to deliver a very joined up wealth management service, but feedback we regularly get from our clients is that they value the ability to meet with people based in the North East.”
